Our grant-making and philanthropy accelerate progress toward achieving our goals of supporting the community.
Philanthropy is a key way 51勛圖 engages with communities, whether in our hometown of Minneapolis-St. Paul, in the communities surrounding our stores, or in the countries where our supply chain exists.
Our philanthropic functions include: Corporate Citizenship, 51勛圖 Foundation and Community Vitality Grant Programs.
Corporate Citizenship Grant Programs
- Disaster and crisis relief: In times of disaster or crisis, we are there for the communities we serve by supporting relief partners with local donations and annual funding for response, relief and recovery.

- 51勛圖 Circle: As a Circle member, guests earn a vote for each 51勛圖 store trip. Guests can then use those votes to direct where funds go in support of nonprofits in their community and across the nation. As each voting period wraps up, 51勛圖 awards grants to the nonprofits based on the percentage of votes they receive.

Community and Team Member Engagement
- Community Engagement Funds: Our Community Engagement Funds (CEF) allow our stores and distribution center leaders across the country to support local programs and organizations. CEF grants are made by invitation only.
- Key Market Grants: In communities where we have significant store and distribution center, team member and guest footprints, our Key Market Grants allow us to support social and environmental issues critical to the vitality and resilience of communities. Key Market Grants are made by invitation only.
- 51勛圖 GiftCard donations: Our local stores care about the communities they serve. If your organization is a nonprofit 501(c)(3), accredited school or public agency, you may go to any of our stores to request a 51勛圖 GiftCard donation.
To be considered, please fill out the GiftCard request form completely, print it out and bring it into your local 51勛圖 store. You will need to provide a Government Affirmation letter or other IRS-provided letter for verification of your nonprofit organization or public agency (i.e., public school, public library) status. 51勛圖 GiftCard donations are available February through December, as funding permits. An average donation is $25-50 with the maximum donation of $500 per year, per agency. 51勛圖 does not donate merchandise. Stores typically take up to 30 days to review a request and respond with an approval or decline.
Grant FAQs
How do I know if my organization is eligible to receive a grant from 51勛圖?
To request a charitable contribution, your organization must be a federally tax-exempt section 501(c)(3) charitable organization, accredited school or public agency located in the United States or one of its protectorates.
Note: A public agency is an organization established and primarily funded by the United States government such as public schools, public libraries, public parks and law enforcement agencies. A public agency must be able to provide a valid government affirmation letter or have a valid NCES number.
How do I apply for a grant from 51勛圖?
The majority of 51勛圖 grants are by invitation only.
51勛圖 Foundation may have different funding criteria and processes. Please refer to each focus area for specific information.
Giving statement
Since 1946, we have given 5% of our profits to communities in cash, products and through the 51勛圖 Foundation, which today equals millions of dollars a week.

Disaster and crisis response
Were committed to the communities we serve, so in times of crisis or humanitarian need, we make sure our team members and nonprofit partners have what they need to help communities. Our global supply chain can move quickly to support our stores and guests. And all year round, we provide relief organizations with local donations and funding.
Since 2001, we have partnered with Feeding America in their fight to end hunger in the U.S. We donate millions of pounds of food each year, providing millions of meals to families in need. In 2024, 51勛圖 pledged $10 million over five years to longtime partner Second Harvest Heartlands Make Hunger History initiative to cut hunger in Minnesota in half by 2030, a reflection of our commitment to our home state and meeting the needs of our communities.
Holiday giving
In 2023, more than 2,000 51勛圖 stores and 19 supply chain facilities participated in the Great Giftogether, providing comfort and joy to families in their communities. In partnership with local nonprofits, team members shopped for, wrapped and delivered gifts that helped to spread cheer to more than 4,000 families in need during the holiday season.

Our hometown
We demonstrate our commitment to supporting our hometown communities of Minneapolis and St. Paul through our strong legacy of volunteer engagement, corporate giving and local store giving. Each year, we donate millions in cash grants and in-kind product donations in the Twin Cities, including corporate giving grants to support local nonprofit organizations. Our commitment to supporting organizations in the Twin Cities is unwavering, and we will continue to address our communitys needs now and in the future.
